Job Description Position: Material Engineer Reports to: Engineering Manager and Leads Disciplines Has authority: Process & Material Classification activities Is responsible for: • Quantify and qualify engineering opinions and judgment with calculations and supporting industry experience. • Verify engineering work of, and provide technical guidance, training, and direction to others at equivalent or lesser levels and communicate to all necessary parties the nature and status of work/projects. • Identify and communicate product/service improvements to management. • Propose and initiate test programs as needed and evaluate results. • Prepare technical descriptions/sections, including cost benefit studies, for proposals and various documents. • Select the best combination of materials for specific purposes. • Supervise related to quality control throughout the construction and production process. • Ensure that the products comply with national and international legal and quality standards such as ASTM, ASME, etc • Advise on inspection, maintenance and repair procedures. • Review the cost implications of materials used and alternatives, in terms of both time and cost.
